Tony King – Senior Research Engineer – C-Core

Tony King graduated from Memorial University, St. John’s and worked with C-CORE for 30 years, the last 10 years of which was in the role of Director of Ice and Ocean Engineering. His main area of interest is ice scour risk to subsea infrastructure, and he has evaluated ice scour risk to facilities on the Grand Banks, Labrador Shelf, Sakhalin Island, the Beaufort Sea and the Caspian Sea.

Dr. Takatoshi Matsuzawa – Research Scientist – NMRI

Dr. Matsuzawa is a research scientist in ship performance in polar regions at the National Maritime Research Institute (NMRI), Japan. He is an expert in model tests employing the NMRI Ice Model Basin. He has also participated in onboard/field measurements in cold regions, including the Arctic and the Antarctic.

Since the initiation of a new icebreaking research vessel by the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC), he was involved in the planning of the ship and led a series of tank tests on the early design. He is now dually engaged in coordinating the shipbuilding project at JAMSTEC concerning the ship performance and equipment.
